Competitive Strategy: the Game of Poker' (CSP)

CSP pedagogy is game play and poker diary reflections oriented. Students play tournaments and cash game formats with notional currency. There are competitive tournaments every week and the students (players) compete very hard to ensure that they are at the top of the leader board.

Thus far, we have collaborated with various technology platforms to deliver this tournament experience to our students. Theoretical sessions deal with the probabilistic, competitive, 'grind' and psychological aspects of the game. In keeping with 'homoludens', these learnings are discussed in the class. As a born Term-VI course, this elective has to deal with the unique challenges that have only gotten accentuated with various structural changes that have been implemented.

Student happiness in learning a decision making game and going on to become reasonably good at it - is just as much a motivation for the faculty - as the inherent decision-making dynamics that are discussed through the course. Poker takes only a few minutes to learn and a lifetime to master.
